GftK’s vdw 800 paving joint mortar / pointing mortar / paving grout has been designed to be suitable for almost all types of paving and paved areas, safely accommodating pedestrian and light to medium vehicular traffic loads, and fulfilling these functions in domestic, commercial and public areas of hard landscaping.
GftK’s vdw 800 is an excellent paving joint mortar / pointing mortar / paving grout for natural stone setts cobbles and flags / slabs, as well as for reconstituted stone and quality concrete block or flag paved surfaces, such as widely used on patios, driveways, town centres, market squares and commercial areas etc., with paving joints >5mm wide.
The mortar is supplied in 2-components including epoxy pre-coated sand to which the hardener and measure amount of water is added and mixed to a fully homogeneous colour and consistence. The freshly mixed mortar is then easily and quickly applied using wet-slurry application techniques across the thoroughly pre-dampened surfaces, by rubber squeegee where it effectively self-compacts into the joints with the aid of more water from a hose. After an initial few minutes (around 15mins @ 20օ C) the surfaces are finished with a coconut brush and final rinse with clean water to remove any excess. As vdw 800 is applied to a pre-dampened surfaces it can be applied during wet weather, without waiting for the areas to dry after rainfall, although with vdw 800 the surface must be covered if more rain is expected to prevent resin run-off, or alternatively use the latest state-of-the-art vdw 850+ that can even be applied in the pouring rain e.g. when needs must to finish a job and/or get paid!
GftK vdw 800 reacts, cures, and hardens quickly to provide a tough and durable, good looking paved surface, with no shrinkage cracking (as in all cement based mortars), and which is excellent in preventing weed growth and stopping boring insects. The hardened vdw 800 paving joint mortar is also suitable for cleaning with high pressure water-jetting, even by mechanical street cleaners and sweepers, plus it is fully resistant to the freeze thaw reactions from exposure to de-icing salts.
