GftK vdw 815+ is the professional porcelain paving grout for outdoor porcelain and fine natural stone. It suits narrow joints from 3mm.

If you’re laying or restoring a patio, the joints make or break the finish. Ordinary cement and brush-in grouts crack, stain and let weeds back through within a season or two. GftK vdw 815+ is the fix.

It’s a professional epoxy grout for porcelain slabs and fine natural stone with joints from 3mm. As a result, you get clean, tough, weed-free joints that still look good years later.

So from garden patios and pool surrounds to commercial terraces, it’s the porcelain paving grout the professionals reach for. It also works for grouting and repointing flexible paving with unbound stone setts.

Why vdw 815+ is the porcelain paving grout professionals choose

  • Less time on your knees. It’s poured and squeegeed in as a self-compacting slurry, with no slow hand-pointing.
  • No weather delays. Because it goes on pre-wetted slabs, you can grout in the wet — even in light rain, down to +3°C.
  • Stays looking clean. It’s non-staining on porcelain and sensitive stones like sandstone. Also, you can jet-wash it as often as you like.
  • Built to last. It’s tough, abrasion-resistant, and fully frost- and de-icing-salt resistant. Plus it keeps weeds out for good.
  • Safer and more sustainable. The joint is smooth, uniform and durable, so it reduces trip hazards.

Where to use GftK vdw 815+

  • External porcelain paving on patios, terraces and pathways
  • Natural stone, including sensitive Indian sandstone and coloured limestones
  • Pool surrounds, commercial and retail paved areas
  • Repointing stone paving with narrow joints
  • Domestic driveways and other light-to-medium-traffic areas
  • Refurbishing and repointing flexible unbound stone paving to prevent weed growth

Why epoxy is the best grout for porcelain paving

Outdoor porcelain is dense and non-absorbent. So cement-based grouts struggle to bond, and they often crack or lift.

A 2-part epoxy like vdw 815+ bonds chemically instead. It also copes with temperature changes, so the joint stays put for years.

Applied as a wet slurry, it fills even tight 3mm joints completely, with no gaps for water or weeds. For wider joints from 5mm, or areas taking vehicles, use our GftK vdw 850+. You can also browse the full range on our GftK Paving Joint Mortars page.

Simple to apply — a quick how-to

First, thoroughly pre-wet the paving and keep it wet. Then mix the resin-coated sand with the hardener.

Pour it onto the wet surface. Then use a squeegee and more water to move it as a slurry into the joints, where it self-compacts.

No extra tooling is needed. Finally, rinse and brush off any excess with a fine spray and a soft coconut brush. This leaves the surfaces clean and the joints neatly finished.

What is the best grout for outdoor porcelain slabs?

The 2nd-generation, 2-part epoxy grout GftK vdw 815+ is widely regarded as the best grout for outdoor porcelain slabs. It bonds to non-absorbent porcelain; it does not shrink or crack and is fully frost and jet-washing resistant.

Can you use epoxy grout on porcelain paving?

Yes — special epoxy grouts are recommended for porcelain paving, and GftK's vdw 850+ and vdw 815+ (grade for narrower joints from 3mm wide), are unique, 2nd-generation, 2-part epoxy paving joint grouts, designed specifically for use on external porcelain tile paving. This makes vdw 815+ an ideal jointing compound for porcelain paving.

How do you grout porcelain slabs, and will it stain?

Pre-wet the slabs, mix, pour and move the vdw 815+ across the paved surfaces using wet-slurry techniques, so it self-compacts into the joints, no additional tooling required. Then simply brush and rinse-off any excess material with a fine hose spray and a soft coconut brush. The result is stain and haze-free.

Is this an exterior porcelain grout that resists frost and jet-washing?

Yes — once cured this external porcelain grout resists frost, de-icing salts and frequent jet-washing, plus it prevents weed growth.

What joint size, colours and pack size does vdw 815+ come in?

It suits narrow joints from 3mm wide and at least 20mm deep (the depth of the tile), and comes in three colours — Natural, Stone Grey and Basalt — all supplied in 10kg units.

GftK 815+ or 850+ — which porcelain grout do I need?
